According to the correspondent of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Kermanshah, a meeting of the Public Libraries Association of Kermanshah Province was held in various cities with the presence of association members and a group of cultural managers and experts. The meeting aimed to review the status of public libraries in the province and plan to enhance the level of cultural services. During this session, a report on the libraries’ performance in recent months was presented, and members discussed challenges, needs, and solutions for developing reading activities across the province’s cities and villages. Furthermore, the future programs of the Public Libraries Institution for expanding the culture of study and attracting more audiences, especially among children and teenagers, were reviewed and emphasized.

In the fourth meeting of the Public Libraries Association of Thalath Babajani County, a planning and coordination session for implementing cultural programs specifically for the 33rd period of the Book Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran was discussed in cooperation with the county’s executive bodies. Additionally, holding a book exhibition with the participation of the Hanai Hezharn collaborative library, the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and support from the municipality, was another key agenda item.

The association members further emphasized greater interaction and cooperation with the Ministry of Education regarding student visits to libraries, utilizing available resources, and active participation in cultural programs.

Finally, Rezaei, the county governor, stressed the importance of cultural activities and promoting reading, inviting association members to be diligent, compassionate, and avoid a purely statistical approach, emphasizing the need to promote the culture of reading through face-to-face communication with people.

Children and Youth Section to Be Launched at Dalahoo Library

At the beginning of the Dalahoo County Public Libraries Association meeting, the session’s head thanked Hamid Mehdipour for over a decade of managing Dalahoo County’s public libraries and wished success to Arash Mohammadian as the new supervisor of the department.

Among the most important agendas of this meeting were the naming of the first specialized children’s and youth library in Kermanshah Province, located in Dalahoo County, and planning for the 33rd Book Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran, for which decisions and resolutions were adopted.

Subsequently, the association members discussed and exchanged views on planning and coordinating cultural and promotional activities for Book, Reading, and Librarian Week at the county level.

The meeting concluded with the approval of necessary resolutions to better implement the Book Week programs.

In the meeting of the Public Libraries Association of Islamabad-e-Gharb, the county governor stated that the culture of books and reading has been neglected in society, adding that the quality and content of books are primary factors influencing audiences’ inclination to read.

He emphasized the necessity of paying attention to local culture in producing and selecting reading materials, stating, “A part of every society’s culture is rooted in its local culture, and this must be prioritized in preparing books.”

Shahbazi also highlighted the effective role of mosques in expanding the culture of reading and emphasized the optimal use of their capacity as cultural hubs.

Navid Azizi, Head of the County Public Libraries Department, further praised the governor’s support in the cultural sector, adding, “Culture is the foundation of development, and global experience shows that countries that have prioritized reading and book-reading have been more successful in their development path.”

In the fourth meeting of the Public Libraries Association of Gilan-e-Gharb County, the county governor emphasized the importance of integrated planning for commemorating Book and Book Reading Week. He also stressed the interaction and synergy among the county’s executive bodies in implementing cultural programs, as well as the diligent follow-up and implementation of association meeting resolutions.

Muradian, Head of the Gilan-e-Gharb County Public Libraries Department, presented a report on the progress of previous resolutions, calling Book Week a valuable opportunity to promote the culture of reading. He added that with the cooperation and collaboration of the reading community and cultural institutions, the achievements of libraries can be extended to various levels of society.

At the end of the meeting, association members and special invitees expressed their views and suggestions regarding the agenda. Additionally, holding a literary gathering, book reading and painting competitions, and ringing the book and reading bell in county schools were approved.

In the meeting of the Public Libraries Association of Kangavar County, the governor emphasized the importance of promoting the culture of study and reading, stressing the necessity of integrated planning to encourage various segments of society to read.

Akbari, Head of the Sarpol-e-Zahab County Public Libraries Department, expressed gratitude for the governor’s support in funding the earthquake-damaged Allameh Amini Library and requested acceleration in its reconstruction process.

The meeting also discussed Book Week programs and topics such as implementing cultural and social programs in villages and deprived areas, creating book shelves in city departments, and planning literary gatherings and reading sessions in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the Ministry of Education.

He also cited tracking funding for the construction of the earthquake-damaged library as one of the important programs of the governorship.

Bijan Rasti-Far, Head of Kermanshah Province Cooperation Affairs Department, thanked the governor, mayor, and association members for their support of the libraries’ cultural activities. He considered Book Week a valuable opportunity to explain and enhance the cultural status of public libraries in the county, emphasizing that achieving this goal requires effective cooperation from cultural departments, especially the governorship.

In the final part of the meeting, Ziaollah Abad, Head of the Qasr-e Shirin County Public Libraries Department, congratulated Book Week and announced that the most important program during this period would be a literary gathering focused on books and reading. Subsequently, the association members also presented their views and suggestions, and resolutions related to the agenda were approved.
