The book ‘Forty Pieces for Lakota Flute’ entered the book market
According to the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Mashhad, the book ‘Forty Pieces for Lakota Flute,’ written by Majid Sanei, an author, teacher, and music researcher, has been released to the book market by Tolou Majd Publications.
Majid Sanei, who has authored three books to date, has focused his latest work on forty sheet music pieces for the Lakota flute.
In an interview with the IBNA correspondent, he said about the book: ‘Lakota’ is the name of a Native American tribe, and the name of this tribe is intertwined with this instrument. However, this does not mean that this instrument is only played by that tribe. The Lakota flute, which has thousands of years of history and is also known as the Native American flute in Iran, has other names such as Kiowa flute, meditation flute, love flute, etc. But the registered and international name of this instrument is Native American Flute.
This author and music researcher said: In the belief of Native Americans, nature presents this instrument as a gift to Kokopelli, or the goddess of fertility, to serve as a link to the ethereal world and to achieve spiritual and inner peace through inspiration from nature, becoming an legendary flute player in people’s minds. Today, studies on the sounds of this instrument have shown that its melody has a positive effect on heart rate and stress reduction, and it is also used in music therapy.
Sanei stated: With the increasing popularity of the Lakota flute in Iran in recent years and the lack of reliable resources for this instrument despite many enthusiasts, there was a need for a book specifically written for this instrument, which is why I undertook its writing.
He noted: The present collection includes forty pieces, most of which are famous pieces played by great performers of this instrument worldwide, and a few pieces have been selected from the album ‘Journey to Ixtlan,’ which are made available to enthusiasts for the first time.
The book ‘Forty Pieces for Lakota Flute’ by Majid Sanei, with cover design by Mohammad Sanei, in octavo format, with 50 pages and priced at 450,000 Tomans, is available to enthusiasts in bookstores by Tolou Majd Publications.
