Best of Adapted Cinema Screened at Tehran Book Garden

According to Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), thanks to Azadi Square Magazine, the new season of the “Critique and Watch” cinematic event, featuring the screening, critique, and review of adapted films from world cinema, will be held at Tehran Book Garden from November 15-18, 2025. During this four-night event, films such as “The Merchant of Venice,” “The Shawshank Redemption,” “Mom’s Guest,” and “Child and Angel” will be shown in Hall 8 of the Tehran Book Garden Cinema Complex.

In the World Cinema section, “The Merchant of Venice” is based on a play by William Shakespeare, and “The Shawshank Redemption” is based on a novel by Stephen King. The Shawshank Redemption is the most popular film in the world according to IMDb. In the Iranian Cinema section, the beloved film “Mom’s Guest” is based on a story by Houshang Moradi Kermani, and “Child and Angel” is based on the biography book of Seyedeh Zahra Hosseini. The selected films are among the best adapted works from world and Iranian cinema.

The “Critique and Watch” event series is a program for thematic screenings of the best films and animations from around the world, along with review sessions for these works. The first season of this event, featuring screenings and critiques of Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpieces, was well-received by animation enthusiasts, and now Azadi Square Magazine is holding the new season in cooperation with Tehran Book Garden.
