Miamey Acquires Its First Mobile Library; A Cultural Minibus on the Road to Knowledge

According to Khabaronline News Agency of Semnan Province, the seventh session of the Public Libraries Association of Miamey County was held at the county’s governorate, chaired by Ahmad Khorram, Governor and Head of the Public Libraries Association, with the presence of Saeed Dehghanloo, Director General of Public Libraries of the province, and a group of executive managers and cultural activists.

In this session, it was approved that the Miamey Governorate would provide a minibus to the General Directorate of Public Libraries of the province for the establishment of the county’s first mobile library.

Saeed Dehghanloo, Director General of Public Libraries of Semnan Province, emphasized the importance of cultural justice and universal access to books during the meeting, stating: “Due to the population dispersion and shortage of human resources in Miamey’s public libraries, establishing a mobile library is a cultural necessity that can brighten the light of reading in villages and remote areas.”

He added: “Miamey is the birthplace of great literary figures like Ibn Yamin Faryumadi, and it is fitting that today’s generation, like their predecessors, plays an effective role in enriching the culture and thought of this land.”

Ahmad Khorram, Governor and Head of the Public Libraries Association of Miamey County, also congratulated on Book and Reading Week and expressed satisfaction with the presence of the new Director General of Public Libraries of the province, saying: “The Miamey Governorate will provide a minibus from its fleet to the General Directorate for the establishment of the mobile library, to take an effective step in expanding the culture of books and reading in various parts of the county.”

He also referred to the shortage of librarians in the county’s public libraries and called for follow-up to recruit new staff and update library resources.

At the beginning of this session, Kamal Torabian, Head of the Public Libraries Department of Miamey County, presented a report on the current status of libraries, membership statistics, book lending rates, and cultural programs for Book Week.

At the end of the meeting, the association members exchanged views on strategies for developing cultural activities and increasing the per capita study rate in the county.
