According to Mehr News Agency, the book “Humanistic Musicology: A Look at Applied Ethnomusicology in Iran” is a research work that addresses one of the lesser-known branches of musicology.

This field, which emerged in the second half of the 20th century, has played an effective role in preserving and reviving traditional music and, in recent years, in solving various social and cultural issues.

In this book, the author, with an analytical and practical approach, explains the theoretical foundations of applied ethnomusicology while examining its capacities in areas such as cultural policymaking, preservation of musical heritage, and social development. He demonstrates how this scientific branch can be utilized through festivals, regional music archives, and socio-cultural projects to honor and elevate Iran’s musical culture.

The book “Humanistic Musicology” can be a valuable resource for music researchers, art students, cultural policymakers, and those interested in interdisciplinary studies of music and society.

The book “Humanistic Musicology,” written by Keyvan Aghamohseni, was published in 288 pages with an edition of 500 copies by Part Publications.
