Book and Literature News Should Not Be Erased Under the Shadow of Other Fields

Tehran—Alireza Mokhtarpour, the head of the National Library and Archives of Iran, emphasized the crucial role of book and literature news, stating that it should not be overshadowed by other news sectors. Speaking at a press conference, Mokhtarpour highlighted the importance of dedicated media coverage for literary achievements and developments.

He noted that while national and international news often dominates media platforms, the significant contributions of the book industry and literary figures sometimes go unnoticed. “It is imperative that we create a vibrant space for news pertaining to books, authors, and literary events,” Mokhtarpour said, “to foster a culture of reading and intellectual engagement among the public.”

Promoting Reading Culture

Mokhtarpour further elaborated on the National Library’s initiatives to promote reading, including various programs aimed at encouraging younger generations to engage with literature. He stressed that robust and consistent reporting on book releases, literary awards, and discussions is vital for sustaining public interest in these areas.

The official urged media outlets to allocate more resources and attention to covering the literary landscape, ensuring that the efforts of writers, publishers, and librarians receive due recognition. He concluded by reiterating the library’s commitment to supporting literary activities and collaborating with media to achieve broader dissemination of book-related news.
