Golestan Libraries Director General Criticizes Low Deposit of Half-Percent Share

The Director General of Public Libraries of Golestan province, Ahmad Ali Ghanbari, voiced strong criticism regarding the insufficient allocation of the “half-percent share” from municipal revenues, which is legally designated for public libraries. Ghanbari highlighted that many municipalities fail to deposit the full amount, significantly hindering the development and operation of public libraries across the province.

He emphasized the critical role of libraries in promoting culture and knowledge, especially in remote areas. “The ongoing financial constraints directly impact our ability to acquire new books, maintain facilities, and offer essential services to the public,” Ghanbari stated during a press conference.

The Director General urged local authorities to adhere to the legal provisions and ensure the timely and full payment of the libraries’ share, calling for greater support for cultural infrastructure.
